美しい生活道具で、日々を豊かに: アーツ＆クラフツ。一度は耳にしたことのある言葉でしょう。19世紀後半の英国で、産業革命による大量生産品への反発から生まれた、生活用品の美化を目指す活動でした。伝統的な手仕事や職人によって丁寧に作られたものを、生活に取り入れようという取り組みは、日本でも同じ頃、柳宗悦による民藝運動として市井に影響を及ぼしました。時を経た今、私たちもその精神を少なからず受け継いでいます。丁寧に作られた美しいものを日常で使い、その形、手触り、素材、手仕事の跡を、堪能しつくしていただきたいと思うのです。

This idea also influenced Japan, inspiring Yanagi Muneyoshi’s Mingei (Folk Crafts) movement. Today, we’ve inherited some of that spirit, and I hope you will fully appreciate using beautifully crafted items in your daily life, each bearing the marks of the craftsman’s hand.
